Thanksgiving Safety!!
Moms posted this for us last year, but we thought it would be good to share it again this year too!!
Moms taking over here for just a minute.
Even though we overindulge for the holiday, we should be careful about what we let our pets eat during the Thanksgiving holiday. The ASPCA has some great Thanksgiving tips:
Talkin’ Turkey
If you decide to feed your pet a little nibble of turkey, make sure it’s boneless and well-cooked. Don't offer her raw or undercooked turkey, which may contain salmonella bacteria.
Sage Advice
Sage can make your Thanksgiving stuffing taste delish, but it and many other herbs contain essential oils and resins that can cause gastrointestinal upset and central nervous system depression to pets if eaten in large quantities. Cats are especially sensitive to the effects of certain essential oils.
No Bread Dough
Don't spoil your pet’s holiday by giving him raw bread dough. According to ASPCA experts, when raw bread dough is ingested, an animal's body heat causes the dough to rise in his stomach. As it expands, the pet may experience vomiting, severe abdominal pain and bloating, which could become a life-threatening emergency, requiring surgery.
Don't Let Them Eat Cake
If you’re baking up Thanksgiving cakes, be sure your pets keep their noses out of the batter, especially if it includes raw eggs—they could contain salmonella bacteria that may lead to food poisoning.
Too Much of a Good Thing
A few small boneless pieces of cooked turkey, a taste of mashed potato or even a lick of pumpkin pie shouldn’t pose a problem. However, don't allow your pets to overindulge, as they could wind up with a case of stomach upset, diarrhea or even worse—an inflammatory condition of the pancreas known as pancreatitis. In fact, it’s best keep pets on their regular diets during the holidays.
A Feast Fit for a Kong
While the humans are chowing down, give your cat and dog their own little feast. Offer them rawhide strips, Nylabones or made-for-pet chew bones. Or stuff their usual dinner—perhaps with a few added tidbits of turkey, vegetables (try sweet potato or green beans) and dribbles of gravy—inside a Kong toy. They’ll be happily occupied for awhile, working hard to extract their dinner from the toy.

Veteran's Day
We just want to thank all of the men an women in the United States armed forces for protecting our freedom. Also, a special thank you to their families for thier sacrifices.
Dogs have served in the U.S. military during every modern war—World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, in Bosnia, and in Afghanistan—as trackers, scouts, sentries, and messengers; as attack dogs, mine detection dogs, and rescue dogs.
The dogs are credited with saving thousands of American lives and great acts of heroism.
Please don't forget to remember all of the 4 legged veterans of war. To read more about these very special veterans click HERE, HERE, and HERE.

Rescue Me Event: Day 3
Sorry efurone. Moms and Dad were out of town yesterday. Here's our next entry for Mayzie's Rescue Me Week!!
This happy fellow is Bingo!! Bingo is an adult male Shepherd mix, 5-6 years old, who really loves to play ball. You can throw a tennis ball over and over and he will bring it back. He weighs approximately 50lbs. He is very friendly and loves to run and play. He loves other dogs, cats, and children. He will make an excellent family pet. Bingo really needs a fenced yard and a loving family. He is up to date on his vaccinations and is neutered. If you would like to adopt Bingo, please contact the Shelbyville-Bedford County Humane Association at (931) 684-KIND or e-mail SBCHA@hotmail.com. To get a required adoption application visit www.shelbyvillebedfordhumane.org
We have met Bingo personally, and he is a great guy!! He has had some obedience training too! He knows all of the basic commands, and he loves to go to pet day and socialize every year!! Rescue Me Event: Day 1
Our first Rescue Me Event pet is Anna. Anna is a very beautiful gal. Her owner is recently deceased and she has no home, now. She was treated like a queen and had everything she could ever imagine when he was alive. Now, she is at the shelter and would love a wonderful place to be her forever home. She is very smart and well trained. She is 9 years old, but has no apparent health conditions. She would be a great dog for someone who loves a medium to large size dog, but doesn't want a puppy or young active dog. She would be very content laying on the couch and going for an occasional walk. She is such a great dog, she just needs a chance at a second home. To see her call 931-684-5463 or e-mail sbcha@hotmail.com An adoption application can be found at www.shelbyvillebedfordhumane.org

The Battle Is On: Puppies vs. Babies!!
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Puppies vs. Babies. All opinions are 100% mine.
Hey efurone!! We've found out about a fun contest that Animal Planet is sponsoring! It's the Puppies vs. Babies online contest! They are taking votes to see who America thinks is cuter, puppies or babies. They have some mighty cute photos of both posted over at the voting site. We know that our Moms and Dad think that we're pretty cute!! Who do you think that your pawrents would vote for? We're going to be awfully cute, so we don't get out voted! If you all could see all of our "baby" pictures, we are just sure that you would agree!! Take a look at these!!
Look at Shingo, when he was a puppy!!
Here's some of my cutest moments!
Unfortunately, we didn't know our sister, Molly, when she was a puppy. BUT, we think she would win a contest anyway!
Now, what do you all think about that for cute? We think that rates on up there on the cuteness scale. What pictures would you enter, if you were in the contest? Unfortunately, the pictures submission deadline has passed, but we can still put in our votes!
Go on over to Puppies vs. Babies and vote. Leave us a comment, and let us know how you voted!!
