Sickies At Our House!

In answer to the fury first question, NO, we didn't get the snow that we were hoping for. In fact, it's been much more like spring than winter here. Our typist, otherwise known as Moms, has had a much nasty bout with the stomach flu for the past week. She is just now getting back to normal. Hopefully, normal posts will resume soon as she catches up! So, what's going on in Blogville? We remember something about a fabulous Valentine's Day Pawty!! We've got to work quick! Shingo and Molly need dates!! I am hoping that Sallie Marie will attend the pawty with me!! We've really missed you all!

Almost Wordless Wednesday: Christmas Wrap Up!

Haroo efurone!! We're finally back! Our typist decided that she needed a little vacation, but we're back now! We had a wonderful Christmas season! We've posted some pictures below of the goodies that Dory, Bilbo, and Jakey sent us for Jazzi's Christmas Gift Exchange! It was so nice!!

We also got a furry snuggly blanket to sleep with! It had doggie bones on it!

Moms' Birthday Weekend!

Moms' birthday is today! She had a rather big weekend, so we've agreed to let her tell you all about it!! Best part about her birthday is...we get treats too!

Saturday's meet was an absolute BLAST!! I still had a small case of the nerves, beforehand, but I managed quite well (thanks to Katie's good humor)! I am disappointed that the video camera had a SNAFU, so we didn't get any footage. I think I may have figured out the problem, and hopefully it's not broken. I'm proud to say that I swam faster than I ever have at this meet! I ended up taking 2 first place events (200 medley relay, I was backstroke leg, and 50 Breaststroke) and 2 second place events (50 Freestyle and 50 Backstroke). I am the most proud of my 50 Backstroke! I'm still dropping time! The entire team did REALLY well too! We all had a great time!

Another boost on Saturday was the local paper had an article on the team. They decided to take the pictures last week, and everyone is still on winter break. So, I was the lucky photo subject. The article and the pictures both turned out really nice, and I'm really proud of them. Here's the shot that was included in the article.

After the meet on the way home, Casey took me to Texas Roadhouse for a birthday dinner. Katie and her boyfriend Matt came with us. We had a REALLY good meal and a REALLY good time! I was so tired that after dinner we headed straight home, so I could promptly fall out!

Yesterday was AWESOME too! After a great church service and many well wishes, Mom took me out birthday shopping. That's the first time I've been birthday shopping in years!! She bought me a new sweater, top, and pair of GREAT birthday boots! Yes, I'm wearing them today, even though it's in the 50's here! Some things just don't change with age! HEHEHE!! In a few minutes, my new coworkers are taking me out for a birthday lunch! This birthday is just getting better and better! I can't wait to see what the next few minutes bring!

Pawject of Love for the Pittie Pack

There's a most wonderful project that the Dachsies With Moxie Moms is doing for the Houston Pittie Pack. Here are the details, via Frankie Furter and Earnie.

A Memory Quilt for Sandra is being Planned. It will be Queen Sized and will have the five Angels' likenesses appliqued on it. The quilt will be made by Agnes Bullock... of the Dachsies With Moxie. It will be ready by Valentine's Day. Agnes (affectionately know as.. What's Her Name, by her furbabies) had an even MORE wonderful Idea.. She is willing to put a bit of YOU into the quilt. Agnes will stitch a Small (6 inch SQUARE) bit of cloth that Means something to YOU into the quilt. That way Sandra will have the most PERSONAL tribute to her beloved ones possible.

You have seen some of Agnes' wonderful quilts on Twix, Sarge, and This Blog. She does Wonderful Work!!! It will be something for Sandra to keep for EVER.
If you would like to send a BIT of YOU to be included in the quilt we know that it would mean so much to Sandra. WHAT would work? Bits of your furst Blankie... scraps of beloved Stuffies... material from your favorite BED or a Tee Shirt or other of your "clothes".. heck... even a piece of your Baff Towel. Remember Whatever scrap of TREASURE you choose... must be WASHABLE and it must be Flat... Not like a Collar or a Rope toy.. so that it can actually be stitched into the quilt. I think you get the idea. Just make it be something that has Meaning to YOU. I KNOW... you don't want to cut up a treasure... but it is a small scrap... and that little Hole that is left behind for You to see will help remind you of what you DO have. Small sacrifice on OUR part... to Help Fill a HUGE HOLE in Sandra's World. RIGHT?

Moms taking over here for just a minute.

Even though we overindulge for the holiday, we should be careful about what we let our pets eat during the Thanksgiving holiday. The ASPCA has some great Thanksgiving tips:

Talkin’ Turkey

If you decide to feed your pet a little nibble of turkey, make sure it’s boneless and well-cooked. Don't offer her raw or undercooked turkey, which may contain salmonella bacteria.

Sage Advice

Sage can make your Thanksgiving stuffing taste delish, but it and many other herbs contain essential oils and resins that can cause gastrointestinal upset and central nervous system depression to pets if eaten in large quantities. Cats are especially sensitive to the effects of certain essential oils.

No Bread Dough

Don't spoil your pet’s holiday by giving him raw bread dough. According to ASPCA experts, when raw bread dough is ingested, an animal's body heat causes the dough to rise in his stomach. As it expands, the pet may experience vomiting, severe abdominal pain and bloating, which could become a life-threatening emergency, requiring surgery.

Don't Let Them Eat Cake

If you’re baking up Thanksgiving cakes, be sure your pets keep their noses out of the batter, especially if it includes raw eggs—they could contain salmonella bacteria that may lead to food poisoning.

Too Much of a Good Thing

A few small boneless pieces of cooked turkey, a taste of mashed potato or even a lick of pumpkin pie shouldn’t pose a problem. However, don't allow your pets to overindulge, as they could wind up with a case of stomach upset, diarrhea or even worse—an inflammatory condition of the pancreas known as pancreatitis. In fact, it’s best keep pets on their regular diets during the holidays.

A Feast Fit for a Kong

While the humans are chowing down, give your cat and dog their own little feast. Offer them rawhide strips, Nylabones or made-for-pet chew bones. Or stuff their usual dinner—perhaps with a few added tidbits of turkey, vegetables (try sweet potato or green beans) and dribbles of gravy—inside a Kong toy. They’ll be happily occupied for awhile, working hard to extract their dinner from the toy.

We just want to thank all of the men an women in the United States armed forces for protecting our freedom. Also, a special thank you to their families for thier sacrifices.

Dogs have served in the U.S. military during every modern war—World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, in Bosnia, and in Afghanistan—as trackers, scouts, sentries, and messengers; as attack dogs, mine detection dogs, and rescue dogs.

The dogs are credited with saving thousands of American lives and great acts of heroism.

This is Buster. Buster is currently at the Bedford County Animal Control Shelter. It is a kill shelter. Buster is an adult JRT mix dog. He was running with a Husky mix female, also at the shelter, now named Bette. Dogs at the shelter do not have long. If you see an animal you are interested in, please contact us as soon as possible. Rescue Me Event: Day 4

This is Dan. He is a fun fellow. He loves to catch a ball and is very trainable. He gets along with other dogs and is social with people. He is full blooded and llived most of his life in a pen without human interaction until coming to the shelter. Sorry efurone. Moms and Dad were out of town yesterday. Here's our next entry for Mayzie's Rescue Me Week!!

This happy fellow is Bingo!! Bingo is an adult male Shepherd mix, 5-6 years old, who really loves to play ball. You can throw a tennis ball over and over and he will bring it back. He weighs approximately 50lbs. He is very friendly and loves to run and play. He loves other dogs, cats, and children. He will make an excellent family pet. Bingo really needs a fenced yard and a loving family. He is up to date on his vaccinations and is neutered. Our first Rescue Me Event pet is Anna. Anna is a very beautiful gal. Her owner is recently deceased and she has no home, now. She was treated like a queen and had everything she could ever imagine when he was alive. Now, she is at the shelter and would love a wonderful place to be her forever home. She is very smart and well trained. She is 9 years old, but has no apparent health conditions. She would be a great dog for someone who loves a medium to large size dog, but doesn't want a puppy or young active dog. She would be very content laying on the couch and going for an occasional walk. She is such a great dog, she just needs a chance at a second home. Mayzie and Ranger's Rescue Me Event!!

Our furiends Mayzie and Ranger are hosting a wonderful event over on their bloggie!! It's the Rescue Me Event, and it's on November 7th through November 11th! This event is to honor their Grandpa J, who has gone to the bridge. Here are Ranger's rules for the event:

THE RULES

1. Choose a pet currently seeking a forever home. Said pet can be on Petfinder or on a rescue’s website.

2. Write about him or her on your blog during the week of November 7-11, 2011. It does not have to be the ONLY thing you write about, so feel free to write about something else that day if you wish. Simply elaborate on the adoptable pet somewhere in your post.

3. Include a link to the rescue listing or the Petfinder ad.

4. Include a link to Mayzie’s blog.

5. To be entered for the drawing, you only have to write about an adoptable pet on one day. However, for each day you write about a different pet, you will get one entry – up to a total of 5 entries.

6. Once you have posted the adoptable pet on your blog, please notify us by sending an email to mayziegal AT gmail.com OR leaving a comment on our blog. Please include a link to your post.

This past Sunday, Jack got to go to our church's annual Blessing of the Animals. Moms and Dad go efur year! Jack got to go, since I got to go to Pet Day last week. There was a big crowd there, and even Remy, Shelbyville's Police Dog was there! Moms said Jack was a little on the wild side, which is unusual for him!! It was a really nice service and we all got certificates and collar charms! Here's some shots from the day!

Hello efurone!! Long time, no bark! Moms has been so busy with her swim team, church, a new job position, and school that it's been hard to get her to type for us!! The nerve! We sat her down and had a long talk with her, so hopefully things will be much better now.

This past weekend, Moms and Dad did their annual big help at Shelbyville-Bedford County Humane Association's 7th Annual Celebration Pet Day. Moms created the event herself, but for the last 2 years, another nice lady has run the event. There were lots of vendors, other rescues, dog, cats, and other pets there! There were even visitors from Star Wars!! Moms entered me in the pet show in the "Cutest Tail" class and the "Most Handsome" class. I took 3rd place in the "Cutest Tail" class and 5th in the "Most Handsome" class. A super cool Madolorian Bounty Hunter took me into my "Most Handsome Class"! It was so cool! I met a lot of really neat dogs and people. I got to make a really cool painting at the Puppy Picaso booth too! Here are some shots of my day. My formal ribbon picture will be coming soon!

Bloodsuckers and Update

We have had a terrible summer with the flea beasties this year!! Moms has been giving us our Frontline and Advantage, but it doesn't seem to work this year! Poor Shingo and Daisy "the old lady", have both got REALLY bad flea allergies. They've spent the whole summer red and itchy. We've treated the house, shampooed the rugs, and done most everything we can think to do. Is anybody else having problems with these nasty bloodsuckers?! Moms going to try some products from Happy Tails Canine Spa. She's planning on trying their products, Itchin' for Relief, Flea the Scene, and Comfy Dog. Have any of you used their products before? We'll give a full report after we get them and use them.

Now for the hodge podge update:
Moms and Dad took a quick, weekend trip to Destin a week or so ago. Me, Shingo, and Molly had to go to the vacation kennels to stay with our Aunt Mary Jo. We had a great time! We had a whole agility course to play on. Grandma took care of Daisy, Jack, Fergie, and Shiloh. There was a bad incident, while we were gone. One morning, Grandma let Shiloh out to potty. She was right on the side of the street and the yard. A car came flying up the street and hit her on the side of the road!! They didn't even stop!! So, we had to let our sweet, sweet Shiloh cross the Rainbow Bridge. We loved and miss her furry much!! That's part of the reason for our absence these past weeks. Our typist is still furry upset, as we are too!

RIP Sweet Shiloh!

Hope you all had a fantastic ride on Asta's plane to beautiful Honorooroo!! Get ready for a Fantastic 4th of July weekend!! We have LOTS of fun things planned for the weekend. There will be a surf contest, a hula contest, an authentic Hawaiin Luau, Shelby's Birthday celebration, and many other exciting things!! Grab a fruity drink, slip on your swimsuits, and flip flops and get ready to PAWTY!!! Feel free to mingle, while we wait for efurone to get here!!

Blast From the Past

As you all know, our Moms and Dad love all kind of animals! We don't think they've ever met an animal they didn't like. Anyways waaaay back before their blog days, they took some really neat vacations. They went to a place called Discovery Cove in Orlando, FL. It's run by SeaWorld, and you learn all about dolphins and their lives, and all kinds of other animals. You even get to swim with the dolphins. Before you get in, you have a class about dolphins, how they live and how they are trained. Also, you learn about the conservation efforts that Sea World does and how they rescue stranded and injured dolphins. Moms and Dad loved it so much that they went two years in a row. Here are some shots of their incredible trips.

It's That Time of Year Again!!

Are you all ready for a vacation? We REALLY are! We want all of our furiends to come with us this year to our 2nd annual 4th of July Pool Pawty and Luau in Honorooroo! We had SUCH a blast last year, that Moms and Dad has decided to let us make it an annual event.

If you'd like to pawticipate, please send your pool, beach, or summer pawty/vacation pictures to us at fiestythree at gmail dot com. There is no deadline for submitting the pictures. We'll just add them over the long holiday weekend as we get them, BUT the sooner you send them in the better. The more time we have (hint, Moms our typist and pawty coordinator) has to pawty plan! The pawty will be in full swing from Saturday, July 2nd until Monday July 4th!!

There'll be much swimming, pawtying, eating, dancing, and drinking (especially if Puddles comes this year). Here are some great shots from last year's pawty!

Our Mail Is Yummy!

Lately, we've been getting the MOST yummy mail!! We recently got a big package from Milo's Kitchen They were so furry nice and sent us a small bag of each of their varieties: Chicken Jerky, Beef Jerky, Beef Sausage Slices with Rice, and Chicken Meatballs. Look at all this goodness!

They smelled SO yummy that we all just started dancing around!

I couldn't wait to get my mouth on one of those!!

Even Auntie Moon LOVED them, and she thinks she's too good for "Dog" treats! Just look at her!

Mom hasn't given them all to us yet, but we can tell you that each variety is delicous! My personal favorite is the chicken meatballs! So very yummy!

Thank you furry much, Milo's Kitchen for thinking of us and sending us the pawsome treats! Furiends, you gotta get your Moms and Dad to get you some of these!

Back before Moms got so sick, the nice folks over at Milkbone sent us some samples of their new line of healthy treats. They sent us a big box of their Granola Biscuit Treats.

They also sent us a box of their Mini's.

AND a bag of their new Chewy Treats.

These treats are made with such good stuff, like carrots and sweet potatoes. They are so natural that you can see the veggies right in the treats! They were all SO furry good, and good for us too!! We especially liked the Chewy Treats and the Granola Biscuits. Have a look for yourself!

So we HIGHLY recommend these treats. We also like the fact that Milkbone partners with Canine Assistants. So every time we buy treats, Milkbone gives a percentage to Canine Assistants. Check out their video.
